Our local Preschool celebrated Tradition Day with a big dress-up party yesterday.
Each class reflected on a different aspect of Argentine tradition ... the African slave period, the influence of Andean culture, the indigenous culture, and the gaucho.
Jacob´s class demonstrated what they had learnt about gauchos with a cute dance.
But the best bit was when the Directora asked for volunteers to dance the ´Chacarera¨, and Martin assumed they were going to teach it. He was horrified to be thrown into the middle of the playground with 3 Argentines who knew what they were doing and just left him to improvise miserably. The entire preschool community watched on in delight, as poor Martin cringed his way through the dance. I could hardly hold the camera still for the good laugh I received at his expense!
