We have the power back on after 36 hours without it. The power went out on Sunday night- and this time we were the only ones in the suburb (we had been having regular power cuts). With the electrician on Monday morning we found the problem- it seems that ants had eaten through the plastic cable and the wires entering our house had short- circuited.
So now we have a new box out front and new cables and hopefully the problem has been resolved. Electricity here is a scary thing- so many things get done on the cheap. I have already had one serious shock down my arm a few months ago and recently I heard from one of the students connected with ABUA whose father died whilst working on the electricity in his house.
