Tramites....

Today we had to do some 'tramites' in town .... we wanted to open an Argentine bank account.

In Oz, we opened an account with the same bank in record time: under 30 minutes and it was all sorted.

Today, in the affiliate bank in Cordoba, we did two and a half hours of running around. Of course the paperwork we supplied was insufficient (despite another employee telling us something different yesterday). So we needed to acquire a new document from a renowned government office.

My heart sunk when I realised which office it was .... the one that always has a queue that snakes right around the block. But today was different. The sign on the door indicated that no one would be attended to, because the department was on strike.

We tried our luck inside. Very few people had ventured into the building and we found ourselves attended to in record time (only half an hour in a government office is incredible!).

The only drawback was the deafening roar of a loudspeaker, 3 large drums, a piercing whistle and clanging cowbells. At least Argentines are rhythmical in their protests. I felt like dancing ... but figured it might be a bit inappropriate.
