Marriage Retreat

Over the weekend Julie and I were able to go along to the marriage retreat that our church held in the Sierras. It was a lovely time in a very pleasant hotel. Some good talks and some time to chat about married and family life. Our kids were well looked after by one of the ABUA girls (it was only Fri night and Sat). As we left the house, Ellie called out the window - 'Ahora empieza la fiesta!' You can probably guess what that means!

We managed to make a cultural blunder at lunch on the Saturday. They had spread the tables with all sorts of foods for lunch- empanadas, cold meats, salads, pizza, even tripe, buffet style. So we took our plates and loaded up. As we were half way through what we had stacked on our plates, the waitress appeared bringing the 'plato principal' ...main meal. The buffet was just the entree! How embarrassing. The main meal was chicken in a sauce with pom noisettes (those balls of potato). And there was dessert as well.

As Australians the buffet had seemed more than adequate for a church retreat lunch- but not for Argentines. That was just for starters- but then again they probably hadn't loaded their plates quite as much as us!
